19 INSTAGRAM PHOTOS FROM GOLDEN, BRITISH COLUMBIA
If you follow Trevor Morrow Travel on Instagram and Twitter, you may already know that I spent the past week in the insanely epic town of Golden, British Columbia.
Home to only 4,000 inhabitants, Golden is a hidden gem tucked away in the Canadian Rockies. Known to hard-core adventure seekers for years as one of the best places on earth to push the limits and overdose on adrenaline, Golden remains largely untapped by mass market thrill seekers and nature lovers (so you’re getting in a little ahead of the crowd on this one).
Now, I live to try new things and I’ll throw myself into some crazy activities, but you don’t need to be Evel Knievel to get the most out of Golden. However, with all of the exciting activities on offer, you’ll get to feel like a daredevil for a few days.
So while I put together some video and articles from my trip, I’ll start you off with a tour of my time in Golden as seen through my Instagram photos. From foggy forests, to beautiful parks, to freezing cold rivers, and of course, bacon-infused vodka, I’m sure you’ll find something that inspires you and gets you thinking about a Golden escape.
“Los Angeles to Calgary…then it’s over the Rocky Mountains and into British Columbia and onwards to the town of Golden.”
“I arrived in Golden, British Columbia this evening and here’s a little sneak peek at how unbelievably beautiful this place is! Much more photos and video to come over the next 2 days…stay tuned.”
“Beautiful Golden, British Columbia. A shot from downtown Golden, home to Canada’s longest timber bridge (AND it was built by the locals). Now if that doesn’t say, “rugged mountain town” I don’t know what does.”
“Golden has a fascinating history. The 3 men you see here are 3 of Golden’s original Swiss guides who came to Golden to guide people through the mountains and thus, ushered in Golden’s adventure tourism industry. They’re true pioneers and I bet we could all learn a serious thing or two about the great outdoors from these men of the mountains.”
“Up before the birds this morning. Check out the sunrise over the mountains from my room at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden, British Columbia. The air smells like fresh pine trees! ”
”Been eating a lot of meat on this trip…might as well start drinking it! Drinking a Caesar (a Bloody Mary but substitute the tomato juice for clamato juice) with bacon infused vodka, Frank’s Hot Sauce, pepperoni garnish, and a bacon salted rim at Whitetooth Bistro in Downtown Golden.”
“Eagle’s Eye Restaurant at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Such an awesome spot with an unbelievable view. You’ve got to eat here when in Golden.”
An amazing, peaceful, foggy morning exploring the Columbia Wetlands with Columbia Wetlands Adventures.”
“When I move to Golden, British Columbia, I will drive an old Suburban. A real mountain man car.”
“Yesterday at Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, 45 minutes from Golden. Can you believe that this is 100% real?! #nofilter”
“One more shot from my visit to Emerald Lake in British Columbia’s Yoho National Park. Canoers break the reflection in the almost too-blue-to-be-real water.”
“Takakkaw Falls, Canada’s second highest waterfall at Yoho National Park. The sheer sound of this powerful force of nature was incredible.”
“Mist from Takakkaw Falls floats through the trees and is caught in the sunlight at Yoho National Park, 45 minutes from Golden, British Columbia. I couldn’t believe me eyes.”
“A shot from my horseback riding trip through the woods with Flying W Trail Rides in Golden, British Columbia. This guy was disappointed to discover that my camera was not a carrot.”
“All suited up for white water rafting on the Kicking Horse River (it’s freezing cold glacial water hence being covered from head to toe). It was unreal and I loved every minute of it. I even jumped out of the boat (on purpose) and road a few rapids wild and free haha. Got some great shots on my GoPro and will be putting a video together later!”
“A still from the GoPro footage I captured during my rafting trip down the Kicking Horse River with Wet n’ Wild Adventures.”
“Based on the photos I’ve been posting from my trip to Golden, British Columbia, I’m sure it’s easy to see why I love Canada.”
