Let’s talk about that Italian escape you’ve been dreaming of. The one where you’re living like a king on the Amalfi Coast, dining on the freshest seafood, lounging by a pool overlooking the sea, and looking like a pro while doing it.
Well I’ve got good news. That dream is real and it’s called every single day at Il San Pietro, a too-incredible-to-be-real-but-it-is hotel hanging off the cliffs of Positano, Italy.
I recently had the chance to turn this dream into a reality. To cover the “looking like a pro” part, I stocked up at J.Crew before I left for some simple, clean cut, and fitted new clothes.
The hardest part about mornings at Il San Pietro is deciding whether to have your complimentary continental breakfast delivered and served on the balcony of your room, or join the other lucky guests at the restaurant upstairs. The next hardest decision is whether to take a swim in the pool or the sea. Thankfully you won’t be faced with any more hard decisions for the rest of the day, including what to wear:
Seaside Lunch at Carlino
Remember that part of the dream where you’re eating the freshest seafood? Well Il San Pietro’s seaside restaurant, Carlino, is a dream within a dream. Fresh handmade pasta with clams in a lemon sauce, a bowl of perfect mussels, a seafood platter filled with shrimp and calamari, and the list goes on. Then there’s the cheese. But wait, we’re here to talk about what you’ll be wearing. This is what I ate in:
During the afternoon you’ll want to explore Il San Pietro’s terraces and grounds (and who knows, maybe take a photo pensively looking into the distance). Afterwards, hop in the hotel’s complimentary shuttle and head into Positano, the idyllic town built into the hillside which you can see perfectly from Il San Pietro. You don’t want to look like a fanny-pack wearing tourist, so wear something like this:
Dinner at Zass
You have dinner plans at the newly renovated, newly renamed, but still Michelin starred Zass. Helmed by renowned Chef Alois Vanlangenaeker, Zass takes “dinner with a view” to a whole other level. The only thing that will peel your eyes away from the sparkling lights of distant hillside villages are the culinary masterpieces that are arriving right in front of you. This is a dinner occasion worth looking your best for, so put on something nice. Maybe this:
Cotton Cashmere Crewneck Sweater – $64.50 // Vintage Oxford Shirt - $69.50 // Irish Linen Tie – $69.50 // Ludlow Slim Suit Pant in Italian Chino – $158.00 // Tri-Color Stripe Socks – $14.50 // Timex® Vintage Field Army Watch – $150.00

I was a guest of Il San Pietro. All thoughts and opinions are my own (it one of the best hotels in the world so it’s hard not to love it!)
