Ski till three, then head for the nearest bar.
The tried-and-true itinerary behind your classic American ski vacation.
But classic can be … boring. Forgettable. A surefire route to recreating the same trip you’ve been taking for the last decade.
Why not try new afternoon plans? Like: fly fishing. Yes, it’s a thing. Even in winter. An afternoon fly fishing pairs perfectly with a morning spent on the slopes: a peaceful complement to your morning, full of austerity, scenery and nary another human in sight.
Intrigued? Here are five game plans to get you skiing and casting this winter — hotel, mountain and outfitter included.
The list includes…
St. Regis Aspen || Aspen Snowmass || Aspen Outfitters - Aspen, Colorado
The Ranch at Rock Creek || Discovery Ski Area - Philipsburg, Montana
Sun Valley Lodge || Sun Valley Resort || Lost River Outfitters - Sun Valley, Idaho
Hotel Jackson || Jackson Hole || Wandering Anglers - Jackson, Wyoming
Lone Mountain Ranch || Big Sky Resort - Big Sky, Montana

My brother started fly fishing when we were teenagers and took me into it. My father is not a fly fisher, but he’s a nature lover with a true respect and appreciation for the natural resources. So we deeply rooted in outdoor experience and my connection to fly fishing seemed natural.
Sking and fishing does sound awesome. Make me think about when I use to live in Northern New Mexico by the Taos Mountains
