Travel Style: Quiet & Comfortable (Norway)

For some reason, I’ve happened come across a lot of incredible photos of Norway recently. But it was this simple photo by John & Tina Reid of a small red house, seemingly isolated in the Norwegian wilderness, that really got me dreaming of a trip to Norway and escaping to someplace quiet and remote.

When I saw this photo, the first thing I thought was, “it must be quiet there.” The second thing I thought was, “there’s probably no WiFi.” That last thought made me especially happy because, as connected as I am, I need to get off the grid every now and again to stay sane. I then imagined being inside that house and reading a book (a paper one) or writing (with a pen) while sitting near the wood-burning stove. I imagined walking around the foggy hills outside with no where to be — just wandering for the sake of wandering. I though about preparing for such an adventure. I wouldn’t pack much, but what I did would need to be comfortable, warm, and able to withstand the elements.
