In each installment of Just So You Know, I share with you one thing you should know about (like a hidden place to stay, a unique experience or incredible place to eat). Whatever it is, you probably don’t know about it…but now you do!
Just So You Know: Ibiza Food Studio – The Finca
Location: San Lorenzo hills, Ibiza. Here’s a map.
How To Get There: Fly to Ibiza. Rent a car or take a taxi. Drive roughly 30 minutes inland from Ibiza Town.
Ibiza Food Studio – The Finca is the private home (and now newest restaurant) of ex-Noma chef Boris Buono. It sits down an unmarked dirt road, deep in Ibiza’s San Lorenzo hills about 30 minutes by car from Ibiza Town (home to the majority of the island’s world famous clubs).
Way out here, it’s outer space-quiet — a sensory experience in sharp contrast to the sound of thumping base that signifies nighttime back in parts of Ibiza Town.
A handful of tables are set on the stone front patio and a larger table is secluded under a rustic pergola near the pool (pictured below). At night, the silence, the multitude of stars and the flickering candles make you feel like you’re dining in a fairy tale. But this is Buono’s reality.
The food is cooked in Buono’s home kitchen; in the bathroom you may even see a few toothbrushes near the sink (this is, again, a home — and a few of the Finca’s rooms can be rented by the night).
Buono also has plans (some of which are already underway) to turn his several acres worth of property into a farm where he can cultivate both produce and animals for use in the restaurant.
At the beginning of each course, Buono sat down at our table to present and explain the dish, and throughout the night, explained his food philosophy (in summary: we should care deeply about the food we put into our bodies, and the quality of that food, as food caries with it and transfers to us the energy from which it was grown and cooked with).
Our meal lasted four hours, ending at 2:30am — and coming from a world where we often eat on-the-go, I enjoyed every minute of it.
I visited before the restaurant’s formal opening, before there had ever been an announcement about its existence — but in mid September 2016, Ibiza Food Studio – The Finca officially opened to the public.
As of this article’s publishing date, no outlets, large or small, have written about The Finca, meaning you’re one of the first people to know about this restaurant, which I believe, in time, and should Buono’s vision become reality, could easily become a sought after destination eating experience.

More Info: This is Boris Buono’s second restaurant on Ibiza. His first, Ibiza Food Studio (not to be confused with Ibiza Food Studio – The Finca) is located in Ibiza Town, the island’s main town. It’s a very popular place to eat, so if you can’t make it out to the Finca, it’s a good alternative.
You can find Finca updates, as well as the reservation phone number and email address on the Ibiza Food Studio Facebook page.
