TRAVEL ARCHIVE: GERMANY (2007)
We took the bikes and turned right out of Peter’s driveway. At the end of the street began a trail that lead into the vineyards. Beyond the vineyards was a forest and beyond the forest were rolling fields. I knew because I had been here twice before. Once a few years prior, and then again a few years before that.
This time it was different. The addition of the bikes allowed us to go deeper than ever before into the forest’s labyrinth of paths and ride through the fields invincible to August’s tall golden grass.
As we rode, the late afternoon sun cast a warm haze and lit up a patch of strange purple-pink flowers that caught my eye. I stopped, got off my bike, flipped open the kickstand, and walked over to investigate.
I knelt down to get a closer look. Beyond the golden grass and purple-pink flowers were the red rooftops of a small village, and beyond the village was a valley full and more golden grass fields.

Travel archive posts are fragments of stories and memories that relate to photographs from my past travels. As I continue to pull from the archive, posts may start aligning…revealing more of the story behind the pictures. More here.
